By using StrongChat you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 17 years old. The app shows you people who are physically nearby so you can add them as contacts, and it is not designed or intended for children.
People within about 100 yards of you appear in the app so you can add each other as contacts. Once you are contacts, you can message each other from anywhere. You can also add someone by sending them an invite link. Messages, photos, files and voice notes between contacts are end-to-end encrypted, which means we cannot read them. We can see that two accounts are contacts and that traffic passes between them, and we say so plainly in the Privacy Policy rather than leaving it to be inferred.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on StrongChat. You agree not to send, post or transmit any content that:
You also agree not to use StrongChat to track, follow, surveil or locate any person without their knowledge and consent, and not to attempt to circumvent blocking, reporting, or the distance limits built into the service.
Every message and attachment can be reported from inside the app, and any user can be blocked. We review reports within 24 hours. Content that breaks these terms is removed and the accounts responsible are suspended or permanently removed. Reporting someone also blocks them immediately.
Because messages are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot see content in order to moderate it proactively. A report therefore includes a copy of the reported content taken from your own device, which is the only way a human can review something we cannot read. We may remove content and terminate accounts at our discretion, without notice, where these terms have been broken.
Your account lives on your phone. Anyone who can unlock your phone can use your account, so protect it โ the app offers a passcode lock for extra protection. If you lose your device and have not linked Sign in with Apple, your account and messages cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else, because we hold no readable copy of your messages. The one exception is content you or someone else attached to a report: that is readable by design, because a human has to review it, and it is kept for moderation. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.
You keep ownership of what you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to transmit it to the people you send it to, and to store it where the app says it is stored. Message content is stored only as encrypted text we cannot read. Attachments are held only when the recipient is offline, for at most 48 hours, and only in encrypted form โ though we can see the filename and who sent it while we hold one. Content you attach to a report is stored readable, because that is the only way it can be reviewed. See the Privacy Policy.
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. It is removed from our live database immediately. Two things outlast that, and we would rather state them here than have you discover them: our nightly backups are kept for fourteen days, and reports are retained for moderation and are not removed with the account. Messages already delivered to another person's phone stay on that phone, as they would with any messenger.
You agree not to attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse engineer the service, to access accounts or data that are not yours, or to use automated means to create accounts or send messages.
StrongChat shows you people nearby, including people you do not know. Use ordinary caution: meet in public, add only people you actually intend to talk to, share your location only with people you trust, and use blocking and reporting when something is wrong. We do not verify identities and we do not run background checks on users.
The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We may change, suspend or end features at any time. We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StrongChat is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or from interactions with other users.
These terms are between you and StrongChat, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
